Capcom reveals new Street Fighter V character, Laura Matsuda, from Brazil

Representing Brazil, Laura is the first to specialize in Matsuda Jiu-Jitsu in Street Fighter

After last week's leak, Capcom has officially unveiled Laura Matsuda, the newest character to enter the fray. Laura is completely new to the Street Fighter franchise, and will make her debut in Street Fighter V.

She was officially revealed today at the Brasil Game Show, which is fitting because it's her home country, as well as home of Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu. Lara actually specializes in Matsuda Jiu-Jitsu, a first for the Street Fighter series.

Check out her moves in the reveal trailer above, and read all about her directly from Capcom.

"As the next heir of the famed Matsuda Jiu-Jitsu fighting style, Laura is constantly looking for strong opponents around the world to defeat, in an effort to spread the Matsuda Jiu-Jitsu’s name and prestige. Generally a happy and outgoing spirit, Laura finds she is the most content and most focused in the heat of battle.

Laura’s methodical grapple style and quick movement will make her a favorite for those who like to specialize in “up close and personal” mind games. Using a variety of quick moving attacks and command grabs, opponents will have to always to be on guard to stop Laura from overwhelming them quickly.

Laura is also the first grappler in the Street Fighter series to ever have a projectile! This really changes up how she approaches her opponent and how opponents can approach her."

Laura is the 14th of 16 characters that will make up Street Fighter V's initial lineup of characters. With just two spots left, who do you want to see in the game? Take a look at our requests and let us know what you think below.
