Yeah, it was basically Resident Evil with dinosaurs, but that doesn't matter. Dino Crisis was a legitimate Survival Horror game on the PS1 from Capcom and Shinji Mikami all the way back in 1999. It got a pretty solid sequel soon afterward, and then the third game came in 2003, but nobody likes to talk about it, so we'll leave that one alone. Over the past couple of years, we have seen Capcom remaster their older Resident Evil titles, which worked within a very similar framework to that of Dino Crisis, so it has naturally made some begin to wonder.
Might Dino Crisis be making a comeback at some point?
The short answer, at least for now is don't hold your breath. In an interview with the Daily Star (the link may be NSFW for some of you), Producer Masachika Kawata revealed his desire to see the game make a comeback as a reboot. Kawata says that although the idea is "a really exciting prospect," nothing is happening behind the scenes at the moment.
"There’s not currently any conversations happening [at Capcom], that I’m aware of," he said.
A Dino Crisis remaster at the very least would seem to make a lot of sense, in the same vein as Resident Evil HD Remaster. It stands to reason that there should be enough fans to think that the investment Capcom would have to make wouldn't outweigh the payoff, but that's still just conjecturing none the less.
For now, we are left to hope for the best.
