Capcom blew gamers away this weekend with its reveal of Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite during the PlayStation Experience, but the announcement may have unearthed some additional clues about the company’s plans for the future.
In its press release for the game, Capcom laid out an interesting couple of sentences on what could be the company’s long-term plan:
"In addition to regular major title releases each fiscal year, Capcom is currently focused on reviving series that have not had new entries recently, or otherwise dormant IP," reads the release. "Beginning with Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, a return for the series following a five-year hiatus, Capcom looks to enhance its corporate value even further by utilizing its library of rich contents."
This is news a lot of gamers have been waiting to hear. Capcom is responsible for many popular franchises, which means we could see them again over the next few years.
In case you’re unfamiliar, Capcom has loads of dormant franchises under its belt, including Bionic Commando, Onimusha, Okami, Ghost n’ Goblins, Dino Crisis, Azura’s Wrath, Viewtiful Joe and … heck, I could keep going.
Which Capcom franchise would you like to see resurrected?
