Castle Crashers Remastered available today, free for owners of original

Castle Crashers, one of the early Xbox Live Arcade games that put Xbox Live Arcade on the map is available starting today on the Xbox One, under the title Castle Crashers Remastered.

With improved textures and higher resolution art, a smoother 60 frames per second framerate, and even a new mini-game called Back of Barbarian.

What makes this deal even sweeter is that if you've previously owned Castle Crashers on the Xbox 360, you get Remastered completely free starting today, but only until September 20. After that, those who own the original will only have to pay $5. Otherwise the game will retail for $14.99.

However, at the time of this writing, the game is currently showing up for full price, regardless of whether you've owned the original. Microsoft is aware of the problem and they're investigating, and urging players to hold off purchase until it has been resolved.
