Castlevania: Lords of Shadow creator announces online game Raiders of the Broken Planet

Developer MercurySteam, best known as the creators of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, today tore the curtain off their long-awaited mystery project: Raiders of the Broken Planet.

Raiders of the Broken Planet is an “epic multiplayer online asymmetric adventure,” MercurySteam said on Facebook. The game’s latest teaser site shows a hulking mechanical octopus towering over a motley crew of mercenaries sporting ramshackle equipment, and gives off an almost Mad Max vibe. In a statement to Polygon, MercurySteam outlined the narrative of the game:

"In the Lira Constellation, light years from Earth lies a Broken Planet. Long ago, its inhabitants discovered a powerful ability enhancing substance called Aleph. Today, this Broken Planet is home to the entire Universe's intergalactic scum and criminal lowlife. All are here to wrest control of the Aleph and thereby tcontrol the Universe."

Little else is currently known of Raiders. A previous teaser site shows what appears to be the innards of a mech, but whether such machines play into Raiders remains to be seen. At the very least, players can register for the game’s PC beta, which will begin at an undisclosed date.
