Castlevania: Lords of Shadow producer joins Mercury Steam’s mystery project

Konami veteran and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow producer Dave Cox is joining forces with developer Mercury Steam on the studio’s long-awaited unannounced project. Cox revealed the news himself via Twitter:

“I’m extremely excited about this very ambitious work they’re undertaking,” Cox told Gamespot. “Mercury Steam continue to push boundaries and their sheer creative spirit always astounds me. It’s great to be back with my old teammates!”

Mercury Steam is best known for its Lords of Shadow series, but its upcoming mystery project will be something different entirely. Next to no information about the game has been revealed since it was announced in 2014, though it does have a teaser site which points to a decidedly mech-fueled atmosphere.

As previously reported, Lords of Shadow 2 was Mercury Steam’s final contribution to the franchise, but the IP itself may live on if Konami picks up another developer. It will be interesting to see what direction the studio takes after separating from Castlevania.
