Konami has sure been causing heartaches among their fans for a long while. While the most prominent controversy has been undoubtedly occurred with the Metal Gear franchise and its creator Hideo Kojima, truth is, all of Konami’s gaming output has seen a drastic dip in quality. Most tragic is the negligence of the treasure trove that is Konami’s gaming catalog.
One of these is the Castlevania IP which has been laying dormant for over five years now. What’s hurting fans even more is the fact that the last two entries were never truly accepted among fans as they saw the 3D-Action-Adventure Lords of Shadow duology as a departure of the successful formula.
But series designer Koji Igarashi took the reins into his own hands in 2015 and launched a Kickstarter which ended as a huge success. The fans simply were fed up with waiting for Konami and trusted Igarashi to create a spiritual success they deserved. Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night was born.
Now, 4 years after the crowdfunding campaign, Bloodstained is finally out on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. The Switch version will release next week. While the game is not launching in Early Access, the developer has declared that they will release 13 free DLC post-launch among whom are Co-Op & VS modes, Multiplayer, Roguelike dungeons, 2 more playable characters, Chaos, Classic and Boss Revenge modes will be added to the game in the future.
This doesn’t mean it’s slim offerings at launch with the game releasing with the whole story mode and the following:
– New Game Plus
– 8bit Level
– Nightmare Difficulty
– Pure Miriam Set
– Boss Rush Mode
– Speed Run Mode
