NIS America has unveiled the western release date for Disaster Report 4. The unique survival-adventure game all about making it through natural catastrophes will come out on April 7th for PC, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. Watch the new gameplay trailer here!
The Disaster Report series is a long-rooted franchise with a rather bleak setting. The games task the player to make it out of highly-dangerous situations alive. Whether it’s earthquakes, fires or else, the series’ penchant to destroy everything around the player while still being rooted in the real world has made it a fun niche. Many readers might not even remember but the first two Disaster Report games made their way into the West during the PlayStation 2 era. The third title, which was also planned to come out here, sadly was canceled after the devastating earthquake and following tsunami that happened in 2011 in Japan.
When a massive earthquake strikes the city you’re visiting, you find yourself at the epicenter of a chaotic and catastrophic crisis. It’s up to you to rise above the calamity, gather your thoughts and your fellow survivors, and outlast the disaster. Aftershocks, fires, collapsing buildings and debris, and unstable ground are but a few of the threats you’ll face in these nightmarish circumstances. What will you do when every passing second and every snap decision could spell the difference between life and death?
The series looked to be iced at that time but the series got a new chance with 2018’s Disaster Report 4. The game came out only in Japan and it was questionable whether a series who already was niche and now absent from the West for more than a decade would even get a localization.
Thankfully, fans outside of Japan can now let a sigh of relief as Disaster Report 4 is indeed inbound and on almost every platform to boot. DR4 will come out for PC, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on April 7. It might sting a little that only owners of the Xbox One are left out, but Microsoft’s consoles have never really managed to win over gamers who fancy Japanese games.
