CD Projekt RED reassures fans that Cyberpunk 2077 won’t be delayed again

CD Projekt RED, the talented Polish developers who are hard work on the highly-anticipated action-RPG Cyberpunk 2077, has released a statement about the development of their game. Amid major organizations and events cancelling or delaying their schedules, the studio is outright saying that their project is still on track to come out this September.

Good news is a rarity these days. The Coronavirus has everyone anxious all around the globe. While life and health are of course the most important, the effect of the pandemic can be felt in every aspect of life. Even games. E3, the largest annual game convention, has already been cancelled due to an abundance of caution. These types of actions could swap over to actual game release too, however, as Journalist & industry insider Jason Schreier has alluded to yesterday.

One of the most anticipated game releases of the year, Cyberpunk 2077, is slated to come out this September. It’s unclear how the Covid-19 pandemic will develop, so it was unclear how and if games that aim for a launch later this year will be affected. Today, CD Projekt RED has put a clear statement about their game at least.

Today, as a result of that preparation, CD PROJEKT RED switches to full remote work for as long as it is needed. We think this will grant every team member the highest level of personal health safety. And while this all is a bit new to everyone, we are rising to the challenge and showing no signs of stopping in our effort to bring you some kick-ass role-playing action in September.

Alongside taking precautions like shifting work to home, the studio is confident that this will allow them to successfully bring Cyberpunk 2077 to store shelves in September. The title already was hit with a five-month delay. So, we are hoping that besides gunning for one of the most ambitious games, the Coronavirus pandemic won’t become yet another hurdle on the development road.
