Celebrate 40 years with Atari

Atari, founded in 1972, celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, and to commemorate the occasion they're inviting fans to participate in a series of contests and events.

Fans can enter the "40 Giveaways in 4 Days" sweepstakes for a chance to win arcades, t-shirts, and other prizes via the company's Facebook page. Atari is also calling out to loyal fans, asking them to post pictures of themselves in their best Atari tees.

Atari has recently released throwback titles like Centipede: Origins and Circus Atari for mobile devices.

“Today, we aim to keep the tradition alive through new and creative development efforts based on what made us great in our early days — offering our devoted and growing fan base fun but challenging games on mobile and online platforms," said Jim Wilson, CEO.

Yesterday Zynga announced that Atari had signed on as one of their early partners in its new publishing program, Zynga Partners for Mobile — an interesting marriage of the old and new eras of video games.
