Celebrate the holidays in Gears of War with ‘Gearsmas’

To celebrate the holidays, developer The Coalition will be hosting a special event in Gears of War: Ultimate Edition. Dubbed "Gearsmas," the special holiday event will commence later this week.

The 17-day-long event begins on December 18th at 12:00pm PDT and gives both new and veteran players a chance to "get their fill of XP boosts and new playlists."

The celebration includes Double XP bonuses in all playlists and modes until January 5th, as well as two new playlists:

  • BTTE TDM: Play 2v2 on two small maps for intense co-operative skirmishes.
  • Shotty Snipes: Gnashers and Snipers only. Aim for the head, or go for the gib.

As noted on the forums, due to the long running time of the event, the Warzone playlist will remain active throughout the Gearsmas period.

Additionally, The Coalition has made tweaks to the new weighted map rotation system, which "should result in the most popular maps for Ultimate Edition appearing more often." The developer has also returned Bullet Marsh, Escalation, and Rooftops to all playlists (except Execution).

Gearsmas runs up until January 5th at 12:00pm PDT. In the new year, we can look forward to more details on Gears of War 4.
