CEO of Capcom admits that “some aspects of Street Fighter V needed more polish”

The CEO of Capcom, Kenzo Tsujimoto, has admitted that Street Fighter V wasn't as good as it could have been, and that according to them it "needed more polish".

The reviews for Street Fighter V were a bit all over the place, we at GameZone thought that the game was missing features such as Arcade modes and Player vs CPU, and like our reviewer said "it seems like Street Fighter V is seriously lacking in content, for a game that retails at full price".

It seems like Capcom is agreeing with both us and the rest of the critics. In a document fancily named "Financial Results Briefing for the Year ended March 31, 2016 Summary of Chairman and CEO Kenzo Tsujimoto’s Presentation" Capcom detailed, among other things, that Street Fighter V probably should have stayed in development for a little bit longer.

"Based on what we learned from the past year of operations, it’s best to spend a little more time in developing and running a high-quality title that will perform well globally" Tsujimoto said and continued "For example, some aspects of “Street Fighter V” needed more polish, such as the lack of content and server issues at launch."

At least Capcom now knows that fans wants high quality games, not just a mediocre game. Though he did warn that profits might take longer time for Capcom to stack up with a longer development cycle, but investors shouldn't be too worried about it.

"Profits may take one or two years longer to stack up than initially expected, however we will be firmly strengthening our brands. That being said, even looking at Capcom’s growth exclusively, we expect at the very least growth in excess of 10% to continue."

If Capcom needs to take a longer time to make games to bring polish, content, and overall a better game, we are all for it. Just look at the quality games from Rockstar like Red Dead Redemption and games from CDPR like The Witcher 3, they all took a long time to make but were all loved for their high quality.
