Yesterday's pre-CES Samsung Keynote had a bunch of new announcements, such as a look at their Ultra HD 4K TV, or their new VR tech titled the Samsung Gear. However, one surprise announcement was that Samsung Smart TVs will be able to use the PlayStation Now feature in the first half of next year.
While this may sound trivial to those who already own a PS3 or even a PS4 that uses the PS Now feature, what's cool about having it built into the TV is that now PlayStation games will be accessible to those even without a console. Sony has stated that PlayStation Now will be available on various Sony Bravia TVs, which made sense considering it's their own brand of televisions, but now Samsung is getting a slice of that pie as well.
PlayStation Now is a service that allows users to either rent various PlayStation 3 games and stream them directly to the chosen platform, without any downloading. Sony even announced a Netflix-like subscription plan for PlayStation Now, which will allow users to play over a 100 titles with no restrictions for $20 a month, or $45 for a three month subscription.
I imagine Sony will want to see this service on as many platforms as possible, so it's only a matter of time until we see new hardware that will be compatible with it.
