Changes for CPL 4-Year Anniversary

The CPL announced today the following changes
for the 4-Year Anniversary Event, taking place at the Hyatt Regency in Dallas
on the dates of June 28 – July 1:

1. The cash prizes for the Quake World
tournament have been increased from $15,000 to $20,000 and an additional
$1,000 for charity. The new prize distribution is:

6th 1000 7th 800 8th 500 9-16th 300 17-24th 200

The additional $1,000 will be donated to The
Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center (www.dcac.org), a non-profit organization
specializing in child victims of sexual and physical abuse, courtesy of Altec
Lansing.

2. The Counter-Strike BYOC Qualifier, organized
by the Cyberathlete Amateur League, is now offering a cash prize to the
winning team of $1,200, to assist with travel or accommodations for the CPL
World Championship in December. This sponsorship is courtesy of Clanlair.com,
the official worldwide supplier of CPL pro-gamer wear. The winning team will
also receive a clan-branded uniform to wear at the World Championship.

3. Logitech, is providing merchandise prizes
for the top three winners of the Doom II tournament. The list of prizes will
be announced soon.

4. Workshops from HardOCP, NETGEAR, Gathering
of Developers, Immersion and others have been confirmed.

5. Bawls is sponsoring the Consummate Computer
Competition (C3) with $2,000 in cash prizes. Forty computers have already been
entered to compete in the following two categories: Best Showpiece and Best
Performance Tuning. The judges are Kyle (hardocp), Steve (shacknews), Brian (avault),
Sean (stomped), Paul (telefragged) and a representative from Falcon-Graphics.com.

The main sponsor of the 4-Year Anniversary
Event is Logitech (www.logitech.com). Other prize sponsors are: Altec Lansing,
Bawls and ClanLair. Event sponsors are: Intel, Alienware, ViewSonic, VisionTek,
NETGEAR, Monster Cable and Gathering of Developers.
