Channing Tatum has officially been cast in Kingsman: The Golden Circle

Channing Tatum has just been cast in the sequel to 2015's Kingsman: The Secret Service, set to release next year as Kingsman: The Golden Circle.

Last year, Kingsman: The Secret Service proved to be a surprise hit among critics and fans alike. Based on the little known comic book, the movie, directed by Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass, X-Men: First Class), centered on Gary "Eggsy" Unwin, a troubled youth living with his single mother in south London. After a fated encounter with the mysterious Harry "Galahad" Hart, Eggsy is set for recruitment with a covert British spy organization known as the Kingsman.

It's likely Channing Tatum, as talented as he is, will not be asked to do a phony British accent for the entire film, so its probable his character might have something to do with the introduction of the Statesman, the supposed American counterpart to the Kingsman secret service.

One question raised by the decision is: will Tatum's involvement in KMGC push back the Gambit solo film even further? With the recent announcement that the project has been placed on hold, no longer slated for its original October 2016 release, as well as his commitment to the somehow conceivable Jump Street/Men in Black crossover movie, it doesn't seem likely he'll be able to get Gambit off the ground for the forseeable future.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle releases June 16, 2017!
