The Gambit movie has been through hell. We first heard about the Gambit movie in May 2014, after that it was delayed, and then it was set to start filming in March 2016. The it got delayed again – in the same month it was due to start filming.
After all that, it was said to start filming in Spring this year… but it looks like after all the turmoil, Channing Tatum and the Gambit crew are still interested in the movie.
When asked for an update on the Gambit film at Comic-Con, Tatum clarified that the studio was rethinking the film. Apparently, Deadpool and Logan have given them a bit more leeway with what they could do in a Gambit film.
"We got really lucky. We had a first draft it was good,” Tatum said to Yahoo, “but we were coming to at a time at that creative phase of [the X-Men], where these movies went through a bit of a paradigm shift, where the X-Men movies and the superhero movies with ‘Logan’ and ‘Deadpool’ really broke down a lot of doors for us. We were trying to do some things that we actually weren’t allowed to do, and they just smashed down the doors, so we’re giving it a bit of a rethink.”
Despite drawing inspiration from Deadpool and Logan, Tatum detailed that he'd like to see the film be PG-13.
“We’re not quite going there, because I enjoyed Gambit as a kid so I don’t want to rule out PG-13.”
So, there you have it, hope for the Gambit movie (which still has no release window).
