Channing Tatum’s Gambit film to start filming this March

After a brief delay, the upcoming Gambit film starring Channing Tatum will reportedly begin filming this March in Hollywood South, according to WGNO.

The X-Men spinoff film was supposed to begin filming last November, but was put on hold when director Rupert Wyatt unexpectedly left the project in September. The reason for Wyatt's departure is a bit vague, with rumors about a disagreement over the script and budget. In any case, 20th Century Fox hired Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity, Edge of Tomorrow) to helm the project, and now it looks like filming will begin soon.

Tatum, of course, will play Remy LeBeau, the mutant theif with excellent staff skills who carries a deck of playing cards that he can cause to explode with his powers of controlling kinectic energy.

As for the plot, it's uncertain if the story will follow the source material, though producer Simon Kinberg did describe it as a PG-13 "heist movie and a sexy thriller in a way."

Gambit was originally slated to hit theaters October 7, 2016, though with the delay a 2017 release is more likely. In the meantime, there's no shortage of other super hero flicks to keep you busy throughout the year, including Deadpool next month (Feb. 12th), Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (March 25th), Captain America: Civil War (May 6th), and Suicide Squad (August 5th).
