Ahead of the game’s launch next month, 2K Games and Hangar 13 have released a lengthy new gameplay video of the upcoming Mafia: Definitive Edition. You can watch the entire hands-on demo here!

After trailers and gameplay videos, we now finally get a closer look at regular gameplay of the Mafia remake. Lots of YouTubers got their hands on an early build of the game which all revolve around the same mission, so you’re probably best advised to check out the official gameplay walkthrough shared from the developers themselves.

Unlike all other places that upload their gameplay, this one also features interesting insight from the studio that created the remake, courtesy of Hangar 13 President Haden Blackman. He shares his experience in modernizing a cult classic that ushered in the open-world genre alongside the GTA franchise without losing the identity of the game in the first place.

The city of Lost Heaven got hit hard by The Great Depression, and the advent of Prohibition in America means lucrative business opportunities for mobsters. The Salieri and Morello crime families vie for control over Lost Heaven, even as its few honest policemen scramble to maintain order.
Thomas Angelo’s humble life as a hard-working taxi driver is forever changed after a fateful run-in with the Italian Mafia. Now he’s doing jobs for Don Salieri and gaining respect in the criminal underworld, though his conscience keeps his ego in check.

For those who haven’t played the original 2002 Mafia game, it’s a hallmark title not only for open-world games but gangster epics in general. Mature writing, movie-tier story, and memorable characters instantly catapulted the developers into the stratosphere who are still at the helm of the franchise, albeit under a new name.

Mafia: Definitive Edition is launching next month, September 25th on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
