Check out Japan’s ridiculous Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain commercial

Japan gets all the cool things, if it's not exclusively themed consoles or DLC, it’s TV advertisements that evoke a sense of nostalgia and love for a game series. Sony knows exactly what they are doing with Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (I want a box wedding now).

The latest TV spot for the game shows off inconspicuous boxes getting married. If you’re unfamiliar with the Metal Gear series, this makes a lot more sense than you know. Boxes have been Solid Snake’s most famous hiding spot — no one ever notices the moving box.

In the trailer, that has no subtitles mind you, the bride gives a speech saying that in her 28 years, she has learned many things – thanks to both her father and Metal Gear Solid. Her speech comes to a close with one statement,

“There is still something I’ve yet to learn. Metal Gear‘s greatest mystery…”

After that, you can imagine that she goes on to skip out on her honeymoon and play The Phantom Pain for the next three weeks.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is set to release on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC on September 1.
