Bethesda has released the launch trailer for their upcoming open-world shooter Rage 2. The final trailer before the game launches next Tuesday on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One follows the ridiculous comedic tone set ever since the reveal. Check it out!
Not much long until gamers finally get their hands on the sequel to one of the most divisive first-person shooters in memory. The original Rage released to an insane hype back in 2010. How could it not? Developed by the granddaddy of the FPS genre id Software, expectations were sky-high. Despite being a solid game overall, what was meant to be yet another classic FPS game ended up missing the mark and being merely formidable. Chief among the criticism was the back-then wonky id Tech 5 engine coupled with a too dreary atmosphere.
Dive headfirst into a dystopian world devoid of society, law, and order. RAGE 2 brings together two studio powerhouses – Avalanche Studios, masters of open world insanity, and id Software, creators of the first-person shooter – where you can go anywhere, shoot anything, and explode everything.
Almost a decade later, Bethesda seems to have exactly fixed those two concerns. Gone is the drab and almost scary post-apocalypse in favor of an explosion of colors and a focus on humor. Just what Rage 2 needed. Fittingly, the open-world aspect has also been expanded upon with wildly varying biomes and a renewed take on enjoyable traversal. From rugged trucks to hover bikes, players have lots of fun options to traverse the large world. And on the shooting front, id Software has spiced up the action with a plethora of over-the-top skills and gagdets.
Console gamers will be especially delighted by the news that Rage 2 aims to run at a smooth 60fps on the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. The perfect choice for a fast-paced shooter. The regular consoles will have to do with 30fps.
