On the official Dead Space website, Electronic Arts has posted a graphic novel short, or motion comic, that points to the next entry in the series.
The three-minute video introduces fans to Earthgov Sergeant John Carver, who is shown arguing with his wife before witnessing an attack on the nearby Marker Site. Carver must return home to his family and will soon "discover how important he is in fighting the Necromorph plague."
The website mentions the story is a "new chapter" as well as "the start of John Carver's saga in the Dead Space Universe." Could multiple games be planned starring the character?
A countdown on the site, coded in the franchise's alien language, expires in a little less than five days. EA's E3 press conference occurs on Monday.
