Check out the Launch Trailer for Ghost of Tsushima

Comes out this Friday

Sony’s upcoming major PlayStation 4 exclusive Ghost of Tsushima is less than a week away from its release. And today we are greeted with the launch trailer for it. Check it out below!

With the venerable PlayStation 4 quickly moving towards the end of its life as the premier place to enjoy Sony’s first-party games, we are less than a week away from what is poised to become the last hurrah for the system.

With more than 100 Million consoles sold since its launch way back in 2013, the system already established itself as a juggernaut in gaming history. Witch Sucker Punch Productions’ Ghost of Tsushima it’s now getting its last major exclusive title. A hopefully deserving send-off.

In the late 13th century, the Mongol empire has laid waste to entire nations along their campaign to conquer the East. Tsushima Island is all that stands between mainland Japan and a massive Mongol invasion fleet led by the ruthless and cunning general, Khotun Khan. As the island burns in the wake of the first wave of the Mongol assault, samurai warrior Jin Sakai stands as one of the last surviving members of his clan. He is resolved to do whatever it takes, at any cost, to protect his people and reclaim his home. He must set aside the traditions that have shaped him as a warrior to forge a new path, the path of the Ghost, and wage an unconventional war for the freedom of Tsushima.

It also marks the arguably most-ambitious game by Sony-owned Sucker Punch whose most recent game is the six-year-old standalone spin-off from the launch year exclusive Infamous Second Son. Quite incredible how much trust and funding Sony is willing to give its in-house talent. But such is the way to create long-lasting trust into your brand after all.

And it sure looks like Ghost of Tsushima was well worth the wait, going by the recent dedicated State of Play. The amount of detail and work put into recreating feudal Japan is quite staggering. Whether it will go on to dethrone Assassin’s Creed as the historical open-world action-game to beat – as excited gamers are already proclaiming – remains to be seen.

We certainly do hope it’s going to be the Uncharted Moment for Sucker Punch Productions. Ghost of Tsushima launches this Friday, July 17th exclusively for the PlayStation 4.
