After more than a decade of being involved in the North American eSports scene in one way or another, CheckSix Gaming has disbanded. This comes after a string of departures from the organization's Starcraft II division, most notably, the signing of Conan "Suppy" Liu to team Evil Geniuses, once they discovered that Suppy was not contracted after his impressive performance at the MLG Spring Championship, as well as the mutual decision by Korean Zerg player Kim "Sleep" Seong Han to depart CheckSix.
This started a chain of events including the departure of CheckSix Player Manager Bernie Catalan, who left rather upset with CheckSix management going to work instead for budding North American multi-gaming team It's Gosu. In an interview with ESFI, the CEO of CheckSix said "Catalan left in direct response to the loss of Suppy. He was understandably upset that Suppy was not signed to a contract. The departure of Suppy to EG was very tough on the team atmosphere. He was a player we had for a long time, and has always been a vital part of the team."
CheckSix was involved in many eSports over the years, after being started in America's Army, was involved in everything from DotA, Counterstrike 1.6 to Call of Duty and World of Warcraft. I'm personally sad to see them leave, but they are decent folks, and are said to be helping to find new teams for their players before they close up shop. Class act, guys! Hopefully the team at CheckSix goes on to stay involved with other teams in the industry.
