The Child’s Play charity was conceptualized by the Penny Arcade creators in an effort to get games into the hands of hospitalized children.
But what the dynamic duo never expected is the breathtaking amount of success the charity has seen since its inception. In 2010 alone, the charity raised $2,294,317.53 in donations, marking a new annual record. Lifetime donations are over $9,000,000 now, according to Child’s Play.
The recent Humble Indie Bundle contributed approximately $300,000 last month, while the Desert Bust for Hope marathon and Fate of Carmine fundraise for Gears of War 3 accounted for around $350,000 in combined donations.
I certainly did my part last year, but it’s a drop in the bucket compared to this latest milestone. Congratulations guys!
