Thor: The Dark World (aka Thor 2) is shaping up to be one heck of a sequel. With Game of Thrones' director Alan Taylor helming this movie, Chris Hemsworth gets to act alongside Zachary Levi, Idris Elba, Mads Mikkelson and Anthony Hopkins. There's been tons of rumors that the villian (being played by Mikkelson) would be Malekith The Accursed, ruler of the Dark Elves of Svartlalfheim. Thanks to stunt man James Grogan, it looks like we are one step closer to that rumor being a confirmation.
Speaking with I Review Too, Grogan said:
The other day for example, this is quite random but I was working on Thor 2. I had a load of stunt guys in and the director came in and he said 'Look, we want you all to be elves,' and I was like 'What the hell is an elf anyway?' and he said 'I want you all to walk around like these supernatural animals.' Honestly it was the most ridiculous thing ever but you just have to not be self aware and get on with it.
Hmmm, elves you say? It's possible that Grogan is saying this to throw people off about the identity of the true villain, but all signs are pointing to Thor beating the sh*t out of elves with his hammer. Now I don't know much about Thor in comic book lore, but Malekith The Accursed has keen intellect and super human strength and speed, as well as the ability to teleport and project energy. Quite a villain? Should offer a lot more of a physical opposition as opposed to Loki.
Until an official announcement, this is still an assumption on the villain. Stay tuned for more updates on Thor: The Dark World, which opens November 15, 2013.
