Cities: Skylines first expansion will bring on the darkness

Welcome to the city of the night!

Back in March the answer to our city-building needs was released by Paradox Interactive — I'm talking about Cities: Skylines. Five months post release, Paradox Interactive is releasing their first expansion for the game, 'After Dark.'

After Dark will bring a number of new features, most notably the game will be introduced to a day and night cycle. The game won't carry on the same way it would at night as it would during the day, things are definitely different and it starts with your citizens.

When night comes your cities citizens will tend to stay indoors, that means less traffic jams — making it the best time to alter roads. Citizens staying inside and day-time public transportation closing down brings new options! There will be new transportation lines that are active during the day, night or both. You could even make bus lines that are only available at night, that's could be even better in terms of traffic problems.

Of course, some of the city delinquents might come out at night — you'll need your police for to be stocked up for the villains of the night.

Overall, the expansion has brought a new texture layer to each and every building in the game to have the windows light up nicely. There are neon signs and other lights to make the city look interesting during the night, and the sun rises and sets, bringing tons of new colors.

There's plenty more in the expansion, some of which will be detailed closer to the expansion's release on PC, Mac, and Linux for $14.99 on September 24, 2015.
