Civilization Revolution 2 announced for mobile devices

2K has announced Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution 2, a sequel to the 2008 turn-based strategy game that was actually released on consoles and mobile devices. Unlike its predecessor, however, Civilization Revolution 2 is launching as a "premium title" on iOS devices this July. Don't worry, it will be coming "soon" to Android devices, noted 2K in a press release.

Civilization Revolution 2 is the first game to be developed exclusively for mobile platforms. As such, it'll feature higher-impact graphics and new gameplay and controls that "capitalize on the mobile technology advancements" since the original game's release more than five years ago. It'll boast "core tactical elements of the series" with "intuitive controls" and a "friendly" user interface that has been designed specifically for mobile and touch-pad devices.

As for the actual premise, well, it's a Civilization game. That means you'll be leading a civilization from the dawn of man to the modern age, using militaristic might, scientific discoveries, or cultural or economic power to reign supreme over new and returning leaders from the first game including Abraham Lincoln, Napoleon Bonaparte, J.K.F, and Winston Churchill.

Civilization Revolution 2 will be released for iOS devices — iPhone, iPad, iPad Mini and iPod Touch — on July 2nd. Stay tuned for an Android release date. For those who prefer Civilization on the PC, check out Civilization Beyond Earth.
