While we're all awaiting a major announcement (or update) for Clash of Clans to be made at ClashCon this weekend, Supercell has meanwhile released a optional Halloween update with a couple of limited-time treats.
It's nothing too major — adding a few pumpkins to village map as well as special Halloween Cauldron obstacles that reward you with bonus Elixir. Additionally, the 1-gem Spell Factory boost special is back and will run through Halloween weekend.
It's believed Supercell will announce a larger update at ClashCon this weekend, with rumors that Clash of Clans could be getting a nighttime gameplay mode. According to Master Herald, nighttime will "fill with shiny gems and torches for illumination, and overall visibility of the battlefield will deteriorate." Other rumors speculate the update will introduce Town Hall 11 and the new Barbarian level 8. And perhaps the wildest rumor is Supercell working on a richer Single Player Mode that will allow players to explore the world of Clash of Clans.
Given that Clash of Clans just received a pretty hefty update in September, it's possible ClashCon will be the announcement of these new features with the update releasing later in the year.
