Classic RPG Tales of Phantasia goes free on iOS

Namco Bandai has released a role-playing classic for free on iOS.

Super Famicom game Tales of Phantasia, which launched in Japan in 1995 and came to the U.S. for Game Boy Advance over a decade later, is now up for grabs on the App Store.

The iOS version is free from start to finish, and the main scenario and battles are all fully voiced, with animations and voice-overs added for "important events of the game."

There are some in-app purchases, such as items that enable players to continue from the point they died in battle.

Tales of Phantasia for iOS uses one-finger touch controls. And yes, it's free.
