Code that allows Oculus Rift exclusives on HTC Vive to be patched out; Called a hack

Looks like Oculus is shutting that down real quick.

A programmer removed the boundary between Oculus Rift exclusive games and the HTC Vive with a code that Oculus has called a "hack." It didn't take very long for the programmer, who made the code widely available, got in trouble.

"This is a hack, and we don’t condone it," said an Oculus representative to Ars Technica. "Users should expect that hacked games won’t work indefinitely, as regular software updates to games, apps, and our platform are likely to break hacked software."

The programmers troubles were met with a small 'hooray' from the VR gaming community and giant wag of the finger from Oculus. Unfortunately for anyone who made use of the program, it will be removed in following updates.

Vive supports Oculus' decision to do so, especially considering that the code could cause confusion within the VR community over which games were available on what.

So, there goes that.
