Codemaster #1 in UK

1000 weeks at number one as
Codemasters’ big brands become multi-million sellers.

Codemasters is celebrating a
millennia milestone with the news that it has accumulated its 1000th week with a
Codemasters game holding the number one chart position in the UK’s computer and
video game best-sellers lists.

Operation Flashpoint, Codemasters’
latest PC game release, gave the company its 1000th week at number one, when it
achieved the top chart position in the Home Computer Charts compiled and
published independently by Chart Track last week.

Operation Flashpoint becomes
Codemasters’ 60th game that has achieved a number one placing. The acclaimed
Cold War military simulator joins the company’s other renowned chart hits such
as Micro Machines, Brian Lara Cricket, LMA Manager 2001, Colin McRae Rally and
TOCA Touring Car Championship since the company’s first best seller, BMX
Simulator in 1986.

Further news of achievement comes
from the company’s key racing game brands – Colin McRae Rally and TOCA Touring
Cars. Codemasters has just shipped its 4 millionth Colin McRae Rally game and
3.5 million of its TOCA Touring Car games.

The two gaming brands have embraced
a series of hit releases including Colin McRae Rally (PlayStation and PC), Colin
McRae Rally 2.0 (PlayStation and PC), TOCA Touring Car Championship (PlayStation
and PC), TOCA 2 Touring Cars (PlayStation and PC), and TOCA World Touring Cars
(PlayStation). The first TOCA game was launched in November 1997 and the
original Colin McRae Rally game debuted in July 1998.

Says Nick Wheelwright, Codemasters’
Managing Director: "To have notched up a total of 1000 weeks at number one
is an amazing achievement and is a testament to the excellence that everyone at
Codemasters works for. "The immediate popularity of Operation Flashpoint
gives us a base to build another strong franchise – just like Colin McRae Rally
and TOCA Touring Cars, which are now two of the world’s greatest video game
brands. Both games’ multi-million selling performance ensures their presence in
the market will continue for many years."
