Comic book-inspired Transformers: Devastation being developed by PlatinumGames

Let's face it, it's been a while since we had a really good Transformers game, specifically the War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron. Having a new development studio take control may be just what the series needs to better match the caliber of this monster franchise.

Activision has announced that they are working with PlatinumGames (!) to create Transformers: Devastation, confirming the leak from a few days back. The game will be a comic book-inspired action-brawler that promises to cast Transformers favorites like Wheeljack, Bumblebee and Optimus Prime into a cel-shaded world with striking art design and a rich combo system that highlights the skills of individual characters. Not only comic book-inspired in tone and atmosphere, Transformers: Devastation's story will also pay homage to the comics published by IDW.

Transformers: Devastation will be coming to PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC later this year. Do us all proud, PlatinumGames, like we know you will.
