Conan Exiles backstory revealed

Dynamic sand storms though.....

With the announcement of Conan Exiles last month, Funcom peaked our interest with its first of three planned Conan the Barbarian games. Today, they released their first developer diary, taking us behind the scenes on some of its features and development.

First off, Conan Exiles is a survival game along the lines of Rust or ARK. The game begins with you hanging on a cross, crucified, in the middle of a desert. In the midst of a sandstorm, Conan emerges and cuts you down. He then hands you the weapon and says "Now it's your turn". You will need to overcome the elements, find food, and defeat enemies to survive in both a single and multiplayer experience.

One of the technical features include dynamic sand storms. These will test your engineering as they attempt to destroy your hand-built settlements. Similar to ARK, Conan Exiles will task you with building and creating your own shelter. Not much more was revealed information wise as Funcom is keeping most under wraps until its early access launch, but you can see a lot of the game's technical background in the video.

Conan Exiles is heading to PC early access this summer with a full PC and Xbox One/PS4 console release to follow. No exact date is available yet.
