Developer Funcom has officially announced via Twitter that Conan Exiles will miss its original launch window of Spring 2017 on Xbox One and will instead release into the Game Preview program sometime in Q3 2017. For those of you who don't know what that is, Q3 is the third quarter of the year, meaning the months of Luly, August, and September.
Here's that tweet:
Early Access games can be a tricky business. On the one hand, their promise stands among the most prominent of the entire industry, on the other, promise and delivery are two different things. And more often than not, these games are a lot rougher around the edges than they seem. As a result, they require a lot more and frequent maintenance to keep player bases invested in a brighter future. Sometimes, not everything goes according to plan, and that seems to be the case here.
Conan Exiles recently released a huge 14 GB patch which addressed some the game's exploits, namely the ability to jump on top of exploding jars without sustaining any damage. Of course, if you've played the game, you know there are still many more bugs and glitches to get through, so it only makes sense to try and address as many of these as possible to ensure a smooth launch on to the Xbox One Game Preview program.
