Confirmed: Silent Hills is cancelled

First they can Kojima, now this?

Silent Hills has officially been cancelled, according to a new statement issued by Konami.

Guillermo del Toro made the initial reveal of the game's cancellation, followed by Norman Reedus confirming the game's end. Now Konami has once and for all put an end to the discussion.

The game developer has released a statement of the development of Silent Hills:

Konami is committed to new Silent Hill titles, however the embryonic ‘Silent Hills’ project developed with Guillermo del Toro and featuring the likeness of Norman Reedus will not be continued.

The game that was highly anticipated by survival-horror enthusiasts has been cancelled, but the series will remain. Not sure if that's a good thing as the series itself felt as though it was simmering out; Silent Hills could have been the game that resuscitated the franchise and now… it's gone.
