Control Ultimate Edition out on Steam today together with AWE expansion

Remedy Entertainment’s supernatural action-adventure title Control is launching today on Steam. This comes after a year of timed-exclusivity on the Epic Games Store. Coinciding with the Steam launch the second expansion AWE is also becoming available today across all platforms. Check out the launch trailer for the new DLC  and Ultimate Edition below!

The talented people over at the Finnish studio Remedy are concluding major content updates to their latest title Control very soon. With AWE, the second and final expansion is arriving today. With genre-defining games like Max Payne and Alan Wake the studio already has proven to be masters of both gunplay and supernatural stories.

While Control is a brilliant game, it arguably is a bit too obtuse in its style which led many gamers to overlook it. A real shame as it provides one of the best shooting experiences of the generation. On the PC front, it probably also didn’t help that the publishers made a deal with Epic to withhold the launch on Steam for an entire year.

Alas, today is a day for celebration as the biggest gaming audience on PC, Steam, is getting not only the base game but the newly revealed Control Ultimate Edition. This version includes the base game together with both expansions at a nice budget price of only $31.99 until September 3rd.

Owners of the game on PS4 & Xbox One and the Epic Games Store have also reason for joy since AWE launches today. Unlike Steam users, these will have to wait until September 10th to get the Ultimate Edition.

Publisher 505 got flak after they stated that free next-gen will only be given for owners of the Control Ultimate Edition. So, if you have the regular version on consoles and plan to replay it on the PS5 or Xbox Series X, you might want to get that.
