Corey Feldman doesn't think a sequel to Richard Donner's The Goonies may happen any time soon, if at all.
A sequel to the 1985 classic, The Goonies, has been one of those long-awaited projects that never seems to make its way out of developement hell. Rumors have circulated for literally decades about the film, but throughout all the heresay, even the actors expected to return have mixed feelings about it. In a recent interview with MovieWeb, The Goonies' Corey Feldman shared his thoughts on the future of the possible series and why he feels a new movie may not be on the horizon:
"Richard Donner is 87 years old. And it's like, no one really wants to make it without him. He's the driving force behind it. He says it's still alive. But as we all know…When you get to that age, things slow down quite a bit. There is a big possibility that he might not want to keep driving it. So, I think without him, it doesn't happen. And every day that passes, that he doesn't do it, there is less and less chance that it is ever going to happen at all."
While most of the cast has stated that they are more than willing to return, the decision ultimately falls on the studio. Its apparent that Donner himself is still willing to return to the project, but according to Feldman, every day it doesn't come to fruition, the more likely it is that it never will.
