Corrupted save bug on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Xbox One version to be patched ‘as soon as possible’

Never has there been such a fear to save your game.

Reports have been coming in from Xbox One players of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt that their game saves have become corrupted. The bug appear oftentimes after death, without warning. Members of the community have suggested that the bug is linked to a specific quest or leaving the game suspended for hours.

Players have become scared while playing, not knowing when they will lose progress. They are saving wildly after every battle. This has lead several individuals taking to Witcher 3 forums looking for comments from the developers, one member of CD Projekt Red (CDPR) commented that they are "Aware of the issue and treat it very seriously." The representative went on to say that CDPR would hopes to "put the fix in a patch as soon as possible."

We already know that the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will not be seeing a patch this week, so when "as soon as possible" is remains in question.

CDPR has a couple suggestions for those who have experienced the bug:

Perform a hard reset:

  • Power down your console
  • Unplug the power cable from the back of the Xbox One.
  • Wait for two minutes
  • Plug the power cable back into the back of the Xbox One
  • Monitor the power brick, waiting for it to cycle from a white light to an orange light
  • Turn the power on.
  • This will perform a hard reset of the system.

Go from local saves (saves directly to your Xbox One) to cloud saves (servers off of your Xbox One in the land of the internet):

  • Note: This may result in lost game progress if cloud saving is not turned on (for more information on cloud saving please consult http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-360… )
  • Go to the console’s settings / system / clear local saved games.
  • Upon re-starting the game should re-sync and become functional.
