Creator of the Metroid fan remake is now working on Ori and the Will of the Wisps

Milton Guasti, the developer of the short-lived Metroid 2 fan remake, Project AM2R has apparently found a happy ending despite his passion project's cease and desist from Nintendo. In a recent tweet he sent out, Guasti revealed that he has accepted a job at Moon Studios, and will be doing level design for Ori and the Will of the Wisps.

Here's the tweet:

The two games may look quite different on the surface, but if you dig deeper into how they function, Ori and Metroid are actually quite similar. Ori takes a lot of inspiration from the book of "Metroidvania," the buzz term for free-form 2-D design that encourages exploration and enables players to tackle a game's challenges in whichever way they choose. Given that Guasti has extensive experience breaking the genre down to its meat and bones, he's a perfect fit for Moon Studios.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps was revealed during Microsoft's E3 2017 presser with a somber trailer that left pretty much the entire world wanting more. There's currently no release date set on Ori and the Will of the Wisps, but you can expect to hear more in the near future.

Nintendo has since announced a Metroid 2 remake of their own (which likely explains the cease and desist) called Metroid: Samus Returns, and it will release on September 15th, 2017 for Nintendo 3DS.
