One of the most beloved JRPG series ever is getting revived in the form of a spiritual successor called Eiyuden Chronicle. The ambitious new JRPG from the creators of the Suikoden games is set to come out in fall 2022. Check out the teaser trailer to see a little glimpse of the game in action!
The Suikoden JRPG series by Konami is all but dead in title with the most ‘recent’ main game being over 14 years old. A rough fate for fans of the franchise and with Konami seemingly venturing further and further from the wishes of gamers, it sure doesn’t look like things will change anytime soon.
So, what better solution than taking the reins into your own hands and create a new Suikoden? Well, there’s IP laws for once and that’s why the creators of the series have decided to do the next best thing. Create a spiritual successor.
Our story begins in one corner of Allraan, a tapestry of nations with diverse cultures and values.
By dint of sword, and by way of magical objects known as “rune-lenses,”
the land’s history has been shaped by the alliances and aggressions of the humans, beastmen, elves,
and desert people who live there.
The Galdean Empire has edged out other nations and discovered a technology that amplifies the rune-lenses’ magic.
Now, the Empire is scouring the continent for an artifact that will expand their power even further.
It is on one such expedition that Seign Kesling, a young and gifted imperial officer, and Nowa, a boy from a remote village,
meet each other and become friends.
However, a twist of fate will soon drag them into the fires of war, and force them both to reexamine everything they believe to be right and true.
Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is set in a fantastical world where a diverse kingdom is entangled in war. Similar to Suikoden games, a humongous cast of 100 heroes is awaiting to be recruited by the player in aiding the protagonist’s adventure to expose the truth about the war and bring peace to the nations of the world.
Like we already stated, a very ambitious game. But with the iconic talent behind the Suikoden games on it, there is good reason to believe that Eiyuden Chronicle will deliver when it launches in late 2022 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo’s next-gen console. Oho, do we have unofficial confirmation here that a Switch 2 is coming in the near future? Possibly.
Anyhow, to fully realize their original vision for the game, the developer’s under the newly-founded Rabbit & Bear Studios banner are asking the gaming community to support them via crowdfunding. The Kickstarter for Eiyuden Chronicle is live now and will last until August 28th.
