“The Animal Gods have fallen. Once sacred, they are now husks—haunted beasts lost to toxic fumes from a great bronze industry. Play as Thistle, a small & agile hunter hellbent on destroying the curse that plagues these creatures. Wield a 17th century BC Bronze Sword… and set the Gods free.” That’s the description for Animal Gods via its Steam page.
The 2D RPG found its start on Kickstarter raising over $26,000 to get the game to where it needed to be. Now, not only is it releasing with it’s promised content, it’s coming a full year ahead of schedule. Originally slated for a Fall 2016 launch, the game will be debuting via Steam tomorrow, October 12th.
It’s fantastic when we get to see a crowd sourced campaign not only deliver its promise but do so ahead of schedule. It goes a long way towards proving the only thing holding some great ideas back are the funds with which to make them happen. Which is also a little disheartening when you consider all the stuff that probably wilted on the vine for the same reason.
Animal Gods is beautifully illustrated and follows the quest of a hunter named Thistle who seeks to restore the fallen gods of a forgotten time while utilizing top down action.
