Crytek has announced the delay of Crysis Remastered. According to the official company statement, the studio decided to take a few weeks extra time to meet the expectations of gamers. You can read the entire statement below.
The news of the delay comes just mere days after the Microsft Store leaked official promotional screenshots and even a trailer. Crytek themselves openly point to that recent leak and even admit that the reaction by the gaming community to it led to the decision to delay the Crysis remaster.
Crytek is in a tough spot since Crysis still remains as one of the most infamous games of all time thanks to its industry-leading technical make-up at launch. But a lot has changed in the past 13 years and the game has naturally been long overtaken as the graphical king.
Still, gamers expect to be utterly blown away by anything with the Crysis title on it, even if it is just a remaster not a remake. The leaked images quickly made the rounds across the websites, forums, and social circles where even claims surfaced that Crysis Remastered looks worse in some aspects to the original.
It’s exactly this negative feedback that led to Crytek make the difficult decision to postpone the launch of the remaster in favor of polishing the game. Originally planned to come out July 23rd, Crysis Remastered is now being delayed a ‘few weeks’ to an undisclosed new release date. Realistically, gamers shouldn’t expect a massive visual overhaul in such a short time but there’s no doubt Crytek will try to up the presentation as much as is possible.
In the meantime, you can enjoy these newly-surfaced screenshots of the Nintendo Switch version. They probably won’t hold up as well on a big screen but ought to be pretty impressive in handheld mode.
