Crysis Remastered gets an 8K tech trailer showing off improvements

Crytek has graced us with an impressive new trailer for the incoming Crysis Remastered. The new video aims to highlight the plethora of visual enhancements over the cult original in brilliant 8K resolution. Watch it below!

The mere name Crysis still manages to create sweaty hands for PC gamers, even more than a decade on. Crytek’s masterpiece ushered in numerous cutting-edge visual effects with the shooter back in 2007.

It even spawned a meme back before the name ‘meme’ was even a thing, which has endured to this day. Can it run Crysis? is still being cheekily used among PC enthusiasts as a badge of honor that cements a gaming PC’s prowess.

Things have advanced drastically over the past 13 years however and the original Crysis today is just an old game that holds up better than most others. Thus, Crysis Remastered was born. Mind you, it is not a remake that targets to blow out current heavy-hitters. It was always intended as an enhanced remaster that keeps the original vision just with expanded technical features.

Still, when gamers hear Crysis they expect the best of the best. This led to the remaster’s original reveal going worse than hoped with many users being disappointed that it didn’t melt their eyes. Ultimately, the decision was made to delay Crysis Remastered across all platforms besides the Nintendo Switch.

Today’s new trailer finally showcases the new and final build of the big-boy release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. On paper alone, it’s a massive upgrade over the original with new detailed high-resolution textures targeted for 8K gameplay (!), global illumination, depth of field, motion blur, and ray tracing.

Yes, Crysis Remastered is offering ray tracing on current-gen consoles. What has been heavily touted as a major selling point for next-gen consoles can be experienced today. Mind you, since the game is still basically over a decade old all the effects in the world won’t make it stand toe to toe with modern games that were designed with new tech to begin with. Expecting that would be illogical.
