Crysis Remastered launches without delay on Nintendo Switch July 23rd

Now here’s some surprisingly good news for Nintendo Switch owners. Crytek’s remaster of their iconic first-person shooter is confirmed to launch on the originally intended release date of July 23rd while all other platforms will have to wait several weeks.

Crytek’s 2007 classic Crysis has for the longest time served as the prime benchmark for new gaming rigs, alongside a showcase of graphical fidelity in its most advanced incarnation. But despite getting ho-hum last-gen ports, the shooter has firmly stayed a PC-only game for some reason.

This is all soon going to change with Crysis Remastered. As the name implies, it’s still the same game as the original, just enhanced with improvements to both the visuals and adapting to console controllers.

But after leaks surfaced about the remaster’s existence, gamers were very vocal in their disappointment with it. For the most part, the criticism was geared towards unimpressive visuals at display. To be fair, Crytek never intended to retake the crown of graphics king as they did with the original game. It’s just a remaster.

In the end, the developer decided to delay the launch of Crysis Remastered ‘a few weeks’ to improve the game. Today, we are greeted with the surprising announcement that the Nintendo Switch version is apparently exempt from this delay, and will launch just as originally planned on July 23rd for the Nintendo Switch.

Owners of Nintendo’s popular handheld/home console hybrid can pre-purchase Crysis Remastered right now via Nintendo for just $29.99. A great budget price for what is still considered one of the best first-person shooters that offers a tactical depth to its gameplay, still rarely seen today.
