Crytek has announced that the final release of their popular multiplayer-shooter Hunt: Showdown is imminent. On August 27th, gamers on the PC and Xbox One will be able to experience the finished game, while the developer also has unveiled that PlayStation 4 users will be getting the game sometime this Fall.
German game developer had hit a major rough patch in recent years. After experiencing great success in its early years and expanding the following years, Crytek made news by closing several studios and lay-offs. Things started looking grim for the once-Wunderkind dev. And it started so good though. Far Cry and Crysis still stand tall in FPS genre and are commonly found in Best Of lists, but the developer simply failed in creating worthy successors after a brilliant start.
Things started to change for the better in an unexpected way when Crytek announced their newest project Hunt: Showdown in 2017. Instead of being a focused single-player first-person shooter, Hunt went into a wildly different direction, and with success. The multiplayer-horror shooter launched early last year on Steam Early Access and Xbox Game Preview and immediately became a hit. The polished action game went on to become not only a million-seller but also highly-rated among players.
Now, Crytek is readying up to release Hunt: Showdown properly and plans to release the final game on August 27th on the PC and Xbox One. Since Sony does not have a games release system akin to Early Access or Game Preview, PlayStation 4 users will have to wait until Fall until Hunt: Showdown launches there.
