Cult Atlus JRPG Persona 4 Golden is now out on PC

Pigs are still not flying though

Sega has released one of the most beloved JRPGs of all time for the PC with Persona 4 Golden. The brilliant PlayStation Vita port of the PlayStation 2 original marks a monumental shift for its iconic developer Atlus. Check out the release trailer below!

Earlier this week, leaks via Steam’s database heavily hinted at P4G getting a PC port but seeing is believing. And we are still convincing us that this is indeed not a dream. Atlus, the talented Japanese studio behind the hugely popular and stylish Persona and Shin Megami Tensei franchises, has been traditionally very slow in embracing the PC as a viable gaming platform.

As such, getting Atlus games on PC almost became a meme among desperate fans who wished to play the vast treasure trove of excellent Atlus games on their computers. In fact, Atlus is the last major Japanese player that is finally showing the PC some love. Almost none of their games ever got a PC port, let alone their premier IPs.

But with Persona 4 Golden, they are starting exceptionally strong. The super-stylish JRPG has achieved cult status among fans of the genre for its outstanding presentation, social mechanics and deep gameplay. For the first time, PC gamers are now able to experience this modern classic in high resolution and high framerates.

Not only that, but the game is going for an insanely welcoming price of just $19.99 on Steam. That’s a steal if I ever have seen one. And PC gamers are putting their money where their mouths were all those years. Not even 24 hours after its surprise stealth launch, Persona 4 Golden sits at an insane 94% positive user reviews with estimated sales figures of over 300k.

There’s little question that this is Atlus testing the waters of the PC space and with how well Persona 4 Golden is being welcomed, we wouldn’t be surprised one bit to see Persona 5 Royal and Atlus’ past titles getting ported to PC sooner than later.
