Blizzard yesterday announced the single player Adventure Mode for their digital card battling game, Hearthstone. It's called Curse of the Naxxramas: A Hearthstone Adventure and it includes a new dungeon to work through with new cards to add to your collection.
"The ancient necropolis Naxxramas, a base of operations for the powerful archlich Kel’Thuzad and his plague-bearing undead host, comes to Hearthstone in a single-player Adventure that anyone can undertake," Blizzard explained.
In the adventure, you will progress through five unique wings of the dungeon, gaining new cards by defeating the iconic bosses: the oversized arachnid Maexxna, the fungal horror Loatheb, and the shambling abomination Patchwerk are just three of the bosses you'll face. Each boss has its own unique cards and hero powers.
Curse of the Naxxramas: A Hearthstone Adventure will also introduce 30 new cards which can be collected by overcoming challenges. It will also have its own unique game board to battle on, complete with brand-new interactive corners. And lastly, nine unique Class Challenges will put a "difficult twist" on existing encounters within the adventure. If you are able to overcome these Challenges, you'll be rewarded with new class-specific cards to add to your collection.
Curse of the Naxxramas: A Hearthstone Adventure will roll out over the course of five weeks, opening wing by wing. The first wing, The Arachnid Quarter, will be available free for all Hearthstone players, but each additional wing will have to be purchased with in-game gold or real-life money. Unfortunately, pricing or release dates were not announced, but Curse of Naxxramas: A Hearthstone Adventure will release simultaneously for PC, Mac, and iPad.
