It seems like every hour, there’s a new story about Cyberpunk 2077. We apologize for the spam but really, this is gaming history right here. Earlier today, Sony and Microsoft announced they’re offering full refunds for the game on digital copies. Sony even went as far as delisting the game from the PlayStation Store.
Now, Best Buy is confirming you have until December 21st, 2020 to return any opened copies of Cyberpunk 2077. This is a pretty unprecedented move, especially as stores have pulled back on return policies due to Covid-19.
“Normally, Best Buy is unable to offer returns of opened game software per our Return & Exchange Promise here. However, after some deliberation, and seeing that the vendor will be allowing returns through 12/21/2020, Best Buy will also be allowing returns for select opened Cyberpunk 2077 SKU’s through December 21, 2020. Beyond that date, we will return to our normal Return & Exchange Promise for the game,” reads a statement from Best Buy.
If you choose to return it to Best Buy for a refund, you will have to bring back everything that came with your copy. This includes steelbooks and collector’s edition items. Best Buy also notes you can return any digital codes for the Xbox One version.
A GameStop employee also confirmed to GameZone via a phone call that they will honor refunds as well. GameStop will refund customers the price they paid for Cyberpunk 2077 via store credit.
If you’re having any other troubles, send an email to [email protected] with proof of purchase. CD Projekt Red has committed to refunding all customers who seek a refund for the game, even if it comes out of their pocket. It’s a bold move but one that will ideally help begin to redeem the company.
