It appears that Spike Chunsoft is up to another Danganronpa title, a Danganronpa 3 if you will. Here’s the thing though, while the desire by the company exists to make the game – that’s about as far as they’ve gotten thus far. What this tells is that A: there will be a Danganronpa 3. B: It won’t come out for quite a while.
This info came from Kodaka Kazutaka in a Polygon translated interview. He said:
Until everything's been written, there's nothing that's set. So to answer your question, it's still very early because the scenario isn't written yet.
In regards about the game being about a traditional role as a high school student or taking the game into a different direction, Kazutaka said:
It's pretty much split in the middle in Japan. Half of them want to continue with [a] small group and what happens within there, and the other half wants more of the bigger story.
Just a fortnight ago, at the NIS annual press event, they announced Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls which definitely falls into that ‘different direction’ category as a third person action-adventure title. I look forward to hearing more about it in the near or distant future!
