We have heard plenty of talk on the Prometheus sequel, Alien: Covenant, including face huggers and chest bursters, but now we are hearing a bit more on the film's actual story – well kind of. One of the actors for the film has broken his silence on whether or not the film will contain any humor.
The subject had to be broached simply because the actor in question is Danny McBride, you know, the guy from Eastbound & Down, This is the End, Pineapple Express, and Your Highness. Basically, McBride sticks to comedy, so seeing him added to the Alien Covenant roster was kind of weird.
Even McBride thought he was being called in to bring some kind of comic relief to the movie, spoiler alert, he wasn't:
"When Ridley asked me to come in and read I didn't even know what movie it was for," McBride told Hitfix (via GamesRadar), "and he starts talking to me about it and then starts showing me these diagrams of spaceships and I'm just thinking 'F**k, this is Alien, he's talking to me about Alien right now'. And my next thought was: Why would he be interested in me for this, am I going to just be the comic relief in this?"
"I got the script and I’m like this shit is dark!" McBride added. "There is no comic relief in this at all. This is a dark horror movie. And that was exciting. To be able to step into something like that and to participate in a way that not relying on things I’d done before."
Apparently, we shouldn't worry about Alien: Covenant being funny.
